The RS Limited is widely regarded as the ultimate factory Mk1 MX-5. Produced in limited numbers and fitted with a host of competition-inspired upgrades, genuine, complete examples are becoming increasingly difficult to find — particularly cars that retain all of the RS-specific features that made them so special.

Many RS models were heavily used, modified, or broken for parts in the early 2000s when the value of components such as the Recaro seats alone could exceed the value of the car. As a result, well-preserved and correct examples are now rare.

Previously part of a private collection owned by an MX-5 specialist, the car was stored for several years before being recommissioned in 2023. At that time it received welding repairs where required and a full respray in its original Montego Blue Mica (M8). We have carefully inspected the work and are satisfied that it has been completed to a good standard.

Since acquiring the car in mid-2025, we have methodically worked through the finer details to elevate it from good to excellent, addressing minor issues and ensuring it presents and drives as it should.
