CAT Guard – Mk1, Mk2 and Mk2.5 MX5

Stop your CAT from being stolen!!

Over the last 12 months catalytic converter theft has gone through the roof, especially from mk2 and mk2.5 MX5’s, this has lead us to develop our CAT guard to make removing a catalytic converter very difficult.

Having had the CAT stolen from our own courtesy car we know just how much damage is done by these people and what tools they are using to remove them, in our case they used battery operated reciprocating saws to cut through the down pipe and the mid exhaust section, meaning the car not only needed a new CAT after but also a new exhaust system, making it a very expensive repair for most people.

Our CAT guard is fitted to the under side of the car and completely covers the CAT, holes need to be drilled in the floor pan for the studs to be fixed from inside the car, making it impossible to remove from outside the car without cutting the CAT guard itself, which would prove very time consuming as it is made from 3mm Aluminium, chosen because aluminium will clog up a reciprocating saw blade that is designed for steel and render it useless, even a blade designed for aluminium would take time to cut through this amount of material and gain access to the CAT.

The aim here is to make your CAT so difficult to gain access to that the thieves give up on trying to take it from your car and simply wait for the next one.

Please see the video below showing our development of this product and the 1st prototype fitted, this has now been out on test for several months and has not caused any problems with the CAT overheating or any other issues, and the CAT is still on the car!!!

We have had reports of fitment issues on vehicles with aftermarket exhaust parts or original parts that have been repaired in such a manner they no longer sit in the original position. Backorder Note: These are produced in batches and we require at least 2 on order before production begins. If listed as in stock it will be dispatched next working day. If listed on backorder, once we have received 2 or more orders production will begin which may take 2-8 weeks. You will be notified once production has begun and again when we have them ready to dispatch.
