Floor Rail Reinforcement Plates to be used with our new floor rail units fitting all MK1/MK2 cars (Not MK2.5’s).
Original MX5 floor rails are not labeled a structural part of the car and are often damaged or squashed from mis-placed jacking or grounding on bumps when lowered. In combination with this, the floor pans are purely thin sheet metal which provide no rigidity or resistance to chassis torsion created when cornering.
The use of these reinforcement/spreader plates with our new floor rail replacements, especially the 3mm thick units, allow for a greatly increased central structural strength, directly improving the handling of your car and driver feedback. The spreader plates are welded on to the top of the floor pan, sandwiching the thin sheet metal in between the plate and the new floor rail therefore increasing strength by:
- Increasing the thickness of the metal for attachment, benefitting by allowing for stronger welds.
- Distributing the forces applied when cornering to the chassis plate as well as the floor pan, reducing the temporary deformation of the pan under the force.
Price is for a single side pair of plates (will need 2 sets for 2 floor rails)
