A complete set of 4 Whiteline rear hub carrier spherical bearings to fit all Mk4 Mx5s.
An increasingly common failure point on Mk4 models is the rear hub carrier bearings. The rear hub is mounted to the suspension arms using 5 different bushings. 3 of these are conventional bushings whilst two are Mazdas own design of spherical bearing. These spherical bearings allow precise control of the suspension by allowing the joint to not only rotate on its axis but move its axis, something a conventional bushing (rubber or polyurethane) is unable to do. Unfortunately Mazdas design allows water ingress to the bearing causing premature bearing failure and Mazda do not sell the bearings separate from the hub carrier assembly, currently Mazda charge circa £1400 to fit a pair of replacement carriers.
Failure of these bearings can cause knocking and play in the rear suspension, ultimately leading to poor tyre wear and an MOT failure.
This Whiteline bearing kit is designed to recreate the full range of movement Mazda intended whilst boasting superior internal joint structure for improved performance and durability. The outer housing also features a chamfered leading edge for ease of installation. These are provided with a 3 year 35,000 mile warranty.
This kit contains 4 spherical bearings and is enough to replace both sides.
